Overview
Jackson’s & Co. is an upmarket dining, bar and functions venue located in the heart of historical Ballarat in Victoria, Australia. The extensively refurbished venue is named after ‘Jackson’s Hotel’ – the first hotel built on the site in 1861 during Ballarat’s gold rush.
The selection of a modern slab serif font for the logo design directly references the history of the hotel and the original signage (as seen in the photo) in a strong modern and clean style.
Both landscape and portrait versions of the logo were created along with a shortened icon version – J&Co. – which allowed for flexibility in the application of the branding across all collateral including wine glasses, menus, coffee cups, signage and website.
